The recruitment team at the organisation has long listed you and invited you to submit a report for them to read in order to create a shortlist of applicants.
Task 1
Write a report called ‘How human resource management contributes to organisational effectiveness’. You must refer to organisations in general and you may provide examples from specific organisations you are familiar with or have researched. In your report you must:

To achieve a Distinction, you must also evaluate the contribution of different human resource management practices on organisational productivity and profit.
Task 2
The recruitment team has clarified that a presentation is part of the selection process and this must be prepared beforehand. You do not need to deliver the presentation as part of this assignment. Develop the presentation and supporting handouts using a suitable format, in which you:
• Analyse the impact of culture and structure on human resource management in organisations
• Assess the changing nature of work and work relationships
• Assess the impact of globalisation on the practice of human resource management in organisations
Extension activity
To achieve a Merit, you must also assess how organisations can develop strategies to take account of a contemporary issue affecting human resource management in organisations.
Task 3
The recruitment team was impressed with your report. In preparation for the interview, you have been asked to draft a human resource management plan for the Operations Department which is experiencing significant turnover, high rates of absence and failures in meeting all key indicators. Produce a draft human resource management plan together with supporting notes which:
• Analyses the development, content and implementation of human resource management plans
• Explains how human resource strategies will support performance and development needs
• Assesses the impact of proposed actions on employee motivation and engagement
• Evaluates practices to monitor and evaluate human resource management policies and procedures
Extension activity
To achieve a Distinction, you must also compare your proposed approach to developing
and implementing the human resource management plan to approaches taken in at least
two other named sectors.
