ASSIGNMENT QUESTION:

On Friday, Camidoh visited Patoranking’s Hairdressing Salon, because he wanted his hair to look special for a party he was going to that evening. When Patoranking had finished, Camidoh was so pleased with what he had done that he said that he would give Patoranking an extra USD500. He then found that he did not have enough money with him to do so, and said he would call in on Monday to give it to Patoranking.

On Saturday, Camidoh agreed with his friends Kelvin Boy and Black Sheriff, that they would go to the local greyhound racing track that evening. When they were on their way to the track Kelvin Boy said: ‘’ If any of us makes a killing, let’s say more than USD1000 over the evening, how about we share the winnings? The others both agreed that this was a good suggestion. At the track, Black Sheriff was lucky in all his bets, and at the end of the evening had won USD3000. He then denied that he had agreed to share his winnings and refused to make any payment to Camidoh and Kelvin Boy.

On Sunday, Camidoh visited his neighbour, an elderly man called Stoneboy. Stoneboy was lonely because his wife had gone to visit relatives in Ouagadougou and would be away for a month. Stoneboy said that if Camidoh would come and sit with him every Sunday afternoon while his wife is away, he would, in return for his kindness give him his valuable grandfathers clock, which he knew that Camidoh had always admired, but which Stoneboy’s wife had always disliked.

On Monday, Camidoh seeks your advice as to;

i) Whether he is obliged to pay the USD500 to Patoranking (since Camidoh is now short of money after his visit to the safari bet).
ii) Whether he can compare Black Sheriff to pay him a share of his winnings.
iii) Whether Stoneboy’s promise to give him the clock is legally binding.
