Leadership and Management

The Case
10 years ago, Sani Textiles Limited- STL- was the leading textiles manufacturing company in Ghana. In June 2019, it was clear that STL could not survive competition from industry players. Fact! The balance sheet size was shrinking. The company was not efficient with resources, and it was persistently faced with strategic risk. STL’s bottom line gave no sign of recovery in the short to medium term and the future appeared bleak. Employees were disgruntled and demotivated and management lost control to manage the situation which kept increasing exasperatingly by day. In view of this, STL merged with one of its bitter rivals, Doli Garments Limited Ghana in November 2019, to emerge as Sadoli Ghana. The Board of the newly formed Sadoli Ghana Limited always believes that everything rises and falls on leadership. Hence, they hunted for a good leader, and you were chosen. As the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Sadoli Ghana Limited, you are always confronted with follower resistance and the only game-changer is to influence the team towards Sadoli’s organizational goal. There is clearly a leader-follower disconnect.

With the case presented above, explain the L-F-S interactional framework within the above context and discuss three other leadership theories or models that you, being the new leader, will use to lead the team to success. Read, understand, and identify relevant theories and models that will drive the team.
