Scenario

You work as a senior IT consultant in SCANDO. A UK retail chain, Target UK has approached the company to create an MIS software system for them. You are heading the development of the system and you have planned a number of tasks for the team. You will also lead a number of new recruits in this project.

Task 1 of 2 Presentation and speaker notes
Your line manager Sam has asked you to create a presentation for the new recruits that will give them a thorough knowledge of how IT systems support organisational functions and strategy. You will provide speaker notes at the end of the session. 

Instructions
a. In your presentation, you need to explain how information systems can be used to support value-added change.
b. Follow up your explanation with a review of the management of information systems in an organisation
of your choice. You must select an appropriate organisation.
c. Finish your presentation by identifying different models that can be applied to strategic information systems.

1x Speaker notes (altogether both speaker notes will be around 1000 words)

Task 2 of 2 Management Report
Post presentation you are tasked with writing a management report that demonstrates your deeper knowledge and understanding of MIS.

Instructions
Select an appropriate organisation to base your research on and in your report, you must:
a. Critically evaluate the role and purpose of IT systems for different organisational functions.
b. Analyse the different ways in which data is stored and processed for use in your chosen organisation.
c. Critically evaluate the management of information systems in in your chosen organisation.
d. Critically evaluate a specific information systems that supports value-added change.
e. Evaluate how strategic information systems can contribute to the competitiveness of organisations.
f. Explain how your chosen organisation can obtain a competitive advantage within a global market by successful management of its information systems.
