You will need to develop a research proposal to show how to plan and manage a DBA research project. You can choose the topic but are advised to check with your tutor that your choice is appropriate. You can use the structure below to present your ideas or use your own style.

Introduction Sets the scene by providing the purpose of the
research proposal.
Rationale for the choice of
the research problem.
A convincing argument that explains the rationale,
motivation for choosing the research problem and the
key expectations from the DBA project.
Research Goal Aims and
Objectives.
Well defined goals followed by objectives that fulfil
SMART criteria.
Scope is achievable within the specified duration
Discussion of past studies
in connection to the
problem and need for
further research.
Succinct discussion of key studies that has influenced
author’s thought process along with the identification
of limitations.
A clear justification has been provided for embarking
on the proposed project.
Data requirements for
accomplishing the project
objective.
Identify the kind of data that would be necessary for
accomplishing the project goals.
Classifying them by using techniques like MoSCoW
will be useful
Potential contribution to
knowledge and novelty of
the project.
Succinct discussion on the practical and theoretical
implications of the research project
Detailed Project Plan A plan that divides the research project into work
packages, activities, milestones, durations, key
outputs and resource requirements.
Risk Management Plan. A risk plan that depicts potential risks and actions that
will be taken to mitigate the risks.
Referring to literature around research projects
especially DBA and PhD project will be useful
Conclusion. Concluding remarks that provides an excellent
summary of the document.

Delivery and Submission:
1x Research proposal (4500 words) excluding TOC, diagrams, references and appendices.
Referencing:
Each section must reflect any supporting Harvard style citations.
A comprehensive Harvard style reference list must be included at the end of the work.
